This is more a note to myself, but others may find it helpful.
I recently had to reformat my MacBook and backed up all my files like one is want to do. One of the folders that I backed up was my Local websites. After rebuilding the laptop and installing LocalWP, I thought I would drop the files into the new “Local Sites” folder hoping the software would detect them — uh, no. So after searching the web, I couldn’t come up with a good answer. I did run across an article on backing up the sites, which eventually creates a zip file. While I suspected that this might place configuration files into the zip to be read once you imported the file, I decided to zip the folders I had and import them — it worked like a charm and all sites have been restored.
